Grey Seal Pup

Grey Seal Pup - Lincolnshire - Mammals
Grey Seals are one out of two seal subspecies, which are native to the UK. This seal subspecies is born in a white non-waterproof fur coat, and will moult into the first adult fur coat after mum leaves them (it is now understood that this happens when they will be 18-21 days of age).
Although it looks like I was very close to the pup to take the photo, I wasn't. At Donna Nook the mudflats are fenced off, meaning people can not walk up to the seals, but even here it is important the you do not disturb the rest, the bonding with or feeding of mum. I use long zoom lenses and even crop images later to get close without being close.
