Our next photography experiences will be the Big Cat Photography workshop at Colchester Zoo on 15 June 2018 and
the Big and Small Wild Cat photo day at the Cat Survival Trust on 14 July 2018.

Only 1 space is still available on the BCP workshop in June but plenty of spaces are still available for the photo day in July.

Photography Experiences 2018

13th January 2018
The main part of our photography experience programme for 2018 has been agreed and published. In 2018 we will offer a wide range of photo days, photography workshops and courses at zoos and wildlife parks and also in natural habitat areas. The programme will provide our customers with the opportunity to have special access when taking photos of big and smaller wild cats, to get help and advice while taking photos of big cats and other wildlife and/or to learn more in-depth about wildlife photography, including technical aspects and how to approach taking photos of animals.

We will continue with the Big and Small Wild Cat photo day at the Cat Survival Trust, the Birds of Prey & Leopards photo day at the Rutland Falconry & Owl Centre and with our Big Cat Photography workshop at Colchester Zoo.

Furthermore, we have agreed with Bradgate Park to provide our Basic Nature Photography course here over the summer months
(we are still awaiting information on terms and conditions for the Deer Rut workshops here in October).

Our 2018 programme will provide our customers with the opportunity to photograph Big Cats at zoos and wildlife parks
(Colchester Zoo, Cat Survival Trust and the Rutland Falconry & Owl Centre) as well as British Wildlife in its natural habitat (in the Peak District, at Bradgate Park, Donna Nook and the Cat Survival Trust) . While participants on photo days and photography workshops will have the chance to focus on taking images when having access to support in view of technical questions and in respect of advice on how to best approach taking photos of wildlife, our photography course customers have the possibility to learn more in-depth about photography.

The Basic Nature Photography courses include classroom sessions, where professional wildife photographer, Barbara Meyer will explain the technical and practical aspects of wildlife and landscape photography, and will review customer images to discuss what worked and what could be done differently. The courses will also include lots of practising the newly learnt skills. As our venue for the photography courses is Bradgate Park, participants will be able to learn about different types of photography, e.g. wildlife, landscape and macro photography.

Our venues have been carefully selected to provide our customers with great opportunities to take photos of wildlife from close-up at zoos and wildlife parks or in its natural habitat. In view of big cats, photo day participants will have close-up access at the Cat Survival Trust and also at the Rutland Falconry & Owl Centre
(the big and smaller wild cats at both venues are generally not open for public access).

While photography workshop participants at Colchester Zoo will have no special access, they do have the benefit that their guide does know the big cats here well and will show customers when and where good photo opportunities are likely to occur
(something workshop participants can utilise on future zoo visits).

We are pleased that Colchester Zoo has agreed for us to run the Zoo Photography for Children workshop here. This will provide our junior customers
(aged 10-14 years) and their guardians with the possibility to learn about photography and wildlife while taking images of big cats and other wildlife like meerkats, penguins and wolves.

We hope that our new photography experience programme has something to offer for everyone, who loves photography and wildlife. For more information about the photography courses, workshops and photo days please click on the highlighted names of the individual photography experience types above.
