Our next photography experiences will be the Big Cat Photography workshop at Colchester Zoo on 15 June 2018 and
the Big and Small Wild Cat photo day at the Cat Survival Trust on 14 July 2018.

Only 1 space is still available on the BCP workshop in June but plenty of spaces are still available for the photo day in July.

2017 Photography Courses, Workshops and Photo Days

04th November 2016
Over the last few weeks we have agreed and published dates for our photography courses, workshops and photo days in 2017. We will continue to offer a variety of photography experiences for small groups at Colchester Zoo, the Cat Survival Trust and the Rutland Falconry & Owl Centre. At these venues our customer can learn about their camera and how to take images more effectively while taking photos of big and small wild cats, birds of prey or other wildlife species.

Wildlife photographer Barbara Meyer will be available throughout the events to provide advice to participants while guiding them around the private cat collection or respectively Colchester Zoo. Participants will not only have the chance to learn about technical photographic aspects, but also about how to approach wildlife photography and how knowledge about big cats and other wildlife species will help to get interesting images.

A more detailed theory session is part of our Photography for Beginners course at Colchester Zoo. Barbara will go over basic photography aspects like what aperture and shutter speed are and what these features help to achieve. This course will help to get a better understanding about digital SLR (or bridge) cameras and to get off automatic settings (e.g. controlling where the camera focuses on).

As our business name suggests, some of our photography courses, workshops and photo days will be around big cats like leopards, snow leopards, tigers, lions and/or a jaguar. Our venues offer however a wider variety of wildlife and we now offer also a photo day dedicated to British wildlife at the Cat Survival Trust. Here participants will have the chance to take photos of birds, foxes and other species from a purpose build hide.

In addition to the above-mentioned photography experiences we are currently reviewing and negotiating with some new venues and hope to be able to announce details about these and the photography courses, workshops and/or photo days, which we can offer there, soon.
