Basic Nature Photography

This 1-day photography course is for people who love the natural environment, wildlife and would like to get a better understanding of how their digital SLR (or bridge) camera works.

As in 2017, we will be able to offer this photography course again at Bradgate Park. Here our participants have a wide variety of wildlife and landscapes to take photos of, while learning more about how aperture and shutter speed influence the images they take.

The Basic Nature Photography course will start at 8am as we will try to capture the activity of the deer before the park gets busy, and most of the red deer disappears into the sanctuary. Following this early morning photography excursion there will be a theory session, where we will cover how to control the exposure and utilise this plus other camera features to get certain effects like blurring out backgrounds, taking an image of wildlife hiding in bushes or capturing the motion of wildlife on the move or in flight.

------------

After the classroom session we will be back out in the park to practise the new skills and most importantly to get some great images of the deer, other wildlife and the natural environment around the River Lin and other parts of Bradgate Park. Although red deer might be hard to find in the main part of the park during the day, don't worry, Fallow deer will be around the park all day and then were will be plenty of waterfowl, including their young ones. other wildlife and beautiful landscape subjects.

Throughout the day photography course participants will have support available. Your guide is a professional photographer who works with wildlife conservation, and she will be available to answer any of your questions on photography aspects and/or the wildlife while we are going around Bradgate Park, photographing landscapes and wildlife. Participants will also have the chance to get feedback on their photos and discuss what worked and what could be done differently to get high quality images that tell a story and catch attention.

At Bradgate Park we will be walking through the park to find and track the wildlife and photograph also landscapes. Please wear comfortable shoes and outdoor clothing, suitable for the weather conditions on the day (including protection from sub and insects).

The Basic Nature Photography course at Bradgate Park will start at 8am and will finish at 5pm. The full-day event costs £99 per person, which includes tuition and support by our professional photographer throughout the day plus drinks in the morning and with lunch
